Gesima ward MCA Charles Maroko has assured residents that Nyantaro Bridge which was swept away with floods will be repaired by Wednesday next week.
The ward representative said locals should avoid using the bridge to allow the rapier works to be done.
“I will use my own money to repair Nyantaro Bridge so that residents of Gesima ward can connect directly to Magombo ward.
"The county and national governments should also move with speed and ensure other bridges which have developed cracks are repaired to avoid unnecessary deaths during this heavy rain season,” he said.
Maroko lauded residents who volunteered to help children and women to cross over the bridge on Friday the Bridge was carried away with floods.
“I wish to commend the residents especially men who helped women and children to cross over the Bridge on Friday when the Bridge was swept away with floods.
"I will not abuse the mandate I was given by my people. Throughout my tenure there will be accelerated development in Gesima ward,” he added.
