Speaking at Esani during a courtesy call to area residents, ward representative Ken Atuti of Gesima said the market will be refurbished within the month of June and asked farmers to prepare using the facility in due course.

He said the county government had set aside Sh500,000 following a formal request he had made and asked the contractors to commence the work with immediate effect.

“I wish to inform you that the market will be refurbished from this month since all logistics have been set. It is important to know that the delay was due to the procedure that we ought to follow in securing funding,” he said.

“The county government admitted my request and now the funds are out. I have talked to the contractors and I hope all will be fine in a short while because this is a matter of urgency,” he said.

He asked his critics to desist from misleading residents about the specific duties of elected officers and instead tell the truth about jurisdictions of all elected members.

“Sometimes it hurts when one is overwhelmed by duties which aren’t his or hers. Leaders should point out who has failed and in what work because some duties should be done by MP or the county government,” he said.
