Cheptiret/Kipchamno MCA Gilbert Tenai has demanded for an explanation as to why women, people with disabilities and the current acting County Assembly clerk were left out of the shortlisted candidate for the vacant position.This follows the shortlisting of nine candidates who have been invited for the interviews at the Assembly buildings on April 19th and 20th, 2018.While rising to issue a personal statement at the floor of the Assembly on Friday, Tenai who is also the Assembly's deputy minority whip insisted that the constitutional is clear on the matter of two thirds gender representation."Mr. Speaker I rise to seek a personal statement as to why no woman or person with disabilities were included among the shortlisted candidates for the position of the Assembly clerk," Tenai said."The law is very clear on matters representation in public offices and i need to be told this has not been followed in this case," he added.Assembly Deputy Speaker who was chairing the session Hosea Lamai directed the leader of Majority Josphat Lowoi to followup on the matter and issue a response within 14 days.Candidates who have been shortlisted according to a list posted on the Assembly website are Amos Kirwa, Nahashon Koech, Kimaiyo Kipyego, P[hilemon Mutowl, Shadrack Choge, Shadrack Sambai, Nickson Kiplagat, Richard Sang and Ben Samoei."Following the advertisement in the Daily Nation of the 17th November, 2017, the County Assembly Service Board invites the following shortlisted candidates for interviews at the County Assembly Board Room in accordance with schedule provided herein," reads part of the communication posted on the Assembly website.
