The road which is next to Tuskys Supermarket, is normally crowded by both private cars and public matatus.

Kisumu County Assembly Minority leader Edwin Anayo, who is also the area ward representative, told this reporter that the lives of many young school going children have been lost on that road as they attempt to cross the road to school or from school to home.

“Many children are being knocked down on our roads as they attempt to cross to school and this is something that as leaders, we need to ensure that it is reduced,” said Anayo.

This morning, all activities came to a standstill as the MCA and the pupils painted the roads with white pedestrian crossing markings, something that has never been there before on that road.

Anayo challenged his counterparts to put in measures that will ensure that the lives of young school goers are protected.

He said, “All wards that have busy roads with schools in the vicinity should be marked with zebra crossing lines and high bumps put on them.”
