The Nyamira County assembly on Tuesday put to task Bogichora MCA Beauttah Omanga to explain why he has not presented a report on measures taken by the county commissioner Joseph Rotich to curb insecurity in the region.
Speaker Joash Nyamoko condemned Omanga, who serves as the chairman for security and disaster management, for not taking up the responsibilities accorded to him by the House.
He further challenged him to explain the necessity of having such a committee yet he is unable to accord the assembly the necessary information on security matters.
"I am convicted as the speaker of this county assembly that you are not rising to the occasion and i think members have ventilated on this particular issue and now it is upon you to justify the reasons as to why we should have this committee because i have reliable information that you have not done as much," said Nyamoko.
On his part, Omanga said the assembly did not give him ample time to present the report from the county commissioner's office, further requesting the House to accord him more time to present it.
"It is very unfortunate Mr Speaker for honourable members to make conclusions on this issue. I did communicate with the commissioner but he said he should be given time to accord us the required information and I don't want to speak on behalf of the commissioner. I am asking for more time to get an official document on the same," urged Omang'a.
