The MCA of Gesusu ward Sammy Keroche has questioned the contractor who was awarded the tender to construct the mortuary at Gesusu sub-county hospital over the delays in construction.
Sammy Keroche said that the contractor was given a part payment of Sh700,000 to start the project despite that the construction stopped several months ago.
The MCA said that the contractor has lacked the funds to finish the project. He also questioned the tendering committee on how they awarded such a sensitive tenders to companies which have not established themselves well.
The contractor is said to be in need of money to completed the project which was awarded Sh3 million in the financial year 2014/2015.
This came after the contractors of the Kisii county wrote to the speaker of the county assembly demanding to be paid their arrears and also for an investigation o be conducted to ascertain the source of wealth of the treasury officials.
The MCA has asked the relevant authority to release the funds to facilitate the completion of the mortuary.
