Speaking in the ward on Tuesday, he said police should arrest the suspects who are disconnecting electricity and steal the wires so that they can continue committing crimes in the dark.
“Youths are risking their lives by stealing electricity wires because they will die from shock. I urge members of the public to volunteer information to police anyone with electricity wires to help in arresting the suspects,” he said.
He urged police to intensify police patrols especially during the night when the thieves disconnect and steal the wires.
“Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru must ensure police officers are on patrol on a daily basis especially during the night when most crimes are committed,” he added.
Areas most affected include Igena Itambe, Nyachogochogo, Gesero, Gesiaga and Kiomonyo.
He asked Kenya power workers to reconnect the wires for the residents to continue using electricity.
