The MCA alleges the bodyguards committed the offence on Saturday night at a hotel along Limuru Road.

Murugami who wanted to table a motion of no confidence against the governor said that he was in the company of his wife when the said bodyguards stormed the hotel, roughed them up before dragging him outside.

"It was during a wedding reception that a friend had invited me to. Kabogo's men stormed in and threatened to shoot me with their guns accusing me of fighting Kabogo's government," Murugami told the press at Tigoni Police station yesterday.

"They were four of them and despite people shouting at them they could not leave me alone," he added.

Karungo Thang'wa, Ngewa MCA and a fierce critic of Kabogo who was also present said that the bodyguards should be arrested and their weapons withdrawn.

"Elected leaders cannot be threatened with guns. The governor must address this matter," he said.
