East Kano/Wawidhi Ward MCA has given damning revelations on the Kisumu County Assembly regarding the construction of the Sh 808 Million modern assembly building.

Moses Ochele alleged that he, the speaker Anne Adul and three other MCAs and the husband of the speaker attended a meeting to discuss how they would share a kickback from the project.

The MCA alleged that himself, East Seme MCA Aggrey Ogosi, Kaloleni/Shaurimoyo MCA Prisca Misachi, Deputy Speaker MCA Pamela Josi and the Speaker Anne Adul were to each receive Sh 5M as kickbacks.

Speaking on the assembly floor, Ochele alleged further that the other remaining MCAs were to each receive kickbacks varying from Sh 3M and Sh 1Million.

The revelations shocked the assembly members who kept on shouting "shame shame" as MCA Ochele went ahead to reveal the damning details.

Ochele however said his conscience did not allow him to accept the kickback but some MCAs questioned the timing of his revelations.

The MCAs who were mentioned by MCA Ochele had left the house when he was making the allegations except for East Seme MCA Aggrey Ogosi who also later walked away amidst shouts and jeers from fellow MCAs.

Majority Leader Samuel Ong’ow rose and said the revelations were a true reflection that many corrupt activities have been taking place at the assembly. He said putting up of the modern assembly has been shrouded with a lot of mystery.

Ong'ow further asked the assembly Chief Whip Isaiah Onyango to ensure that MCA Ochele is accorded security for his safety given the damning revelations he made regarding corruption at the assembly.

The MCAs were debating the re-allocation of the Sh 808M meant to build the assembly to development in all the 35 wards in the county. Each ward will receive about Sh 8M each.
