Bogichora MCA Beuttah Omanga believes Deputy President William Ruto may face tough times in defeating Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho in their 2022 presidential bid if he continues to stay in Jubilee.
Joho has been making headlines recently for spearheading ODM campaigns across the country and has made his 2022 intention known to the public.
And in an exclusive interview on Monday, Omanga said the Mombasa county boss is easily acceptable to electorate than the DP.
“The Deputy President should be wary of Joho. He is a schemer and has succeeded from a mere councillor, to MP and now governor. His zeal and optimism make him acceptable within the establishment and the opposition at large,” he said.
“If the DP remains in the Jubilee Party and the Mount Kenya team frustrates him because that is likely, then I am seeing a Joho presidency becoming real. The 2022 race will be the culmination of all major political battles and Ruto should rethink and find a way of fighting on his own,” he said.
The former Nyamira County Assembly majority leader also insisted that should the outspoken ODM deputy party Leader get the backing of his boss Raila Odinga , it will be detrimental to Ruto’s camp should the contemporary political dynamics remain the same.
“Joho’s candidature could even be stronger should Raila back him in 2022. He is a real fighter and his rise in politics is just but a tip of what he is made of. Again, he is favoured by resources,” he said.
