Menengai Ward representative James Macharia has said that Kenyans have immense confidence and trust in President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto and want them to concentrate on developing the country. The MCA, who is a member of the Jubilee Coalition, said that the recent summons by the International Criminal Court were political manoeuvres by foreign agents who want to interfere with Kenya’s sovereignty adding that the court has no case against President Uhuru. “The government is stable and focused. Reactions from Kenyans countrywide show that they have buried the past and are moving on,” he stated. Nakuru County Assembly minority leader Daniel Mbale however reads PR in Uhuru’s state of the nation address before his departure to the ICC terming it unnecessary. Mbale also said that the people who went to welcome the president at the airport and on the streets were paid to do in order to create an impression of the president's popularity in the country. He said as much as many Kenyans want the cases against the two leaders dropped, the government should trade cautiously on the ICC matter as it could have big implications on the country’s international relations.
