A Kisii County MCA has requested President Uhuru Kenyatta to forgive him over alleged abuse to the country’s most powerful man.
The controversial Kiogoro MCA, Samuel Apoko, said the statement that he had abused the president went viral and has negatively impacted on his own reputation since he is a state officer.
He asked the president to forgive him and accused his competitors for allegedly manipulating and the statements he had made about the country’s leadership at a function last year by quoting him out of context.
“The people of Nyamira, I know you must have heard of the name Samuel Apoko, some people had accused me of abusing the president but I want you to know that those were just local politics at their best,” he said.
“I would like to ask the president to forgive me although I insist that I was quoted out of context by some power angry individuals,” said the ODM ward representative.
He said his party has been working closely with the ruling coalition at the county level and therefore he has never had any issue with the president’s party.
“I am a man of respect and I follow the law to the latter. I have always worked with my counterparts from opposition (Jubilee is the minority in Kisii County) and hence no one should purport that I don’t like the president and his party,” he said.
Mr Apoko said he would do all within his powers to meet the president at the State House and narrate his side of the story. He hit headlines last May when he was quoted to having labeled the president as drug baron.
