Hospital ward MCA Mwangi Wamwangi has expressed his gratitude after the Kiambu county government supported a Thika youth to launch a soccer league.
Speaking during the launch of the Thika Sub County soccer tournament on Friday, Wamwangi said that youths are assets of the county in the future.
The tournament which kicks off officially this weekend is dedicated to supporting youth programs.
He said that the youths have shown a desire to work with the government and they will be ready to put their minds together and come up with new ideas of poverty alleviation.
Kelvin Micheni, a journalist has been the first youth ever to start a soccer tournament and the Kiambu Sports CeC Michael Waikenda has helped him put across all the requirements needed to launch it.
The MCA has named him as a hero among the Thika youths and vowed to support all the youth started projects.
"We are much delighted when a young man like him comes up with such projects and we will support him up to the last minute as an individual and as a government," said the CeC.
The occasion was graced by the Waikenda who has sponsored the tournament.
