Wanango noted that when the highways were being constructed, some areas did not have human settlement and hence the constructors never considered stages for people living in the area.

“in Kayole area of Naivasha there were no people living there when the roads were being constructed. This brings a problem especially due to the flow of traffic,” said Wanango.

Wanango added that this had contributed greatly to accidents in the area as passengers did not have specific areas to alight.

“Passengers are often knocked down when they try to stop at a particular place. This endangers both the pedestrians and all other road users,” he added.

He appealed to NTSA to create a dual carriage in the area as another way of reducing accidents.

“It will also be of great benefit to the residents if they build a fly over in the area. The heavy numbers of people who are permanently maimed from the accidents are so heartbreaking. We hope that the introduction of this will control the number of accidents in the area,” added Wanango.

He also cited the fatal accidents that occurred at Naivasha-Nairobi highway during the festive seasons was also a concern.

“We hope that they will be controlled and we are appealing to drivers to be more careful on the roads,” he added.
