An MCA suspected of being behind a land fraud syndicate was on Friday arraigned at the Thika law courts.

This is for allegedly having used deceptive means to sell land to three different clients.

Theta Ward MCA Isaac Kinuthia Njogu from Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County appeared before chief magistrate Benson Ireri. Njogu was charged with selling a non-existent piece of land to Evans Karanja Thiong'o at a cost of Sh150, 000 on May 7, 2012 in Ruiru.

A second charge stated that on July 18, 2014 and January 13, 2015 at Ruiru, jointly with others not before court with intent to defraud, obtained Sh1.1 million from George Gachweri Kagotho by falsely pretending that he could sell to him five plots in Ruiru town.

He was also accused of fraudulently obtaining Sh60,000 from Caroline Wanjiru on October 20, 2010 by selling to her a non-existent piece of land.

Kinuthia denied all the charges and was released on a Sh1.4 million bond after pleading with the court saying he was the sole breadwinner of his family.

The case will be mentioned on January 31.
