Simita earlier in the day had been summoned by Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik in his office where she was accompanied by Nakuru County Assembly Security Committee members.

She arrived at Gilgil Police Station in the afternoon accompanied by her lawyer Lawrence Mwangi who faulted the police for failing to arrest and prosecute Peter Ole Osono.

Addressing journalists, Mwangi said the incident was criminal hence Ole Osono who was disarmed should be arrested and charged as police investigate further.

“Law should not be applied selectively therefore, the said person should be prosecuted immediately after he was disarmed because his action was criminal,” Mwangi added.

Mwangi faulted police for trying to open an inquiry file over the case instead of arresting and charging Ole Osono as it is dictated by law.

Gilgil DCIO Jacob Owiti assured journalists, leaders and the community that the suspect will face the law.

“She has been summoned in her capacity as the area MCA since police believe she is well conversant with several issues to do with the farm,” said Owiti.

MCAs Jane Ngugi (Gilgil) and Samuel Tonui (Nessuit) who accompanied Simita said that police should ensure that thorough investigations are done.

The six journalists who were covering the Friday demonstration recorded statements with police on Saturday.
