A group of young artists studying music and journalism have been given a chance to record their work free of charge at Mwanabandra Records in Kisii, a member of county assembly has revealed.
This comes after a fierce contest in different categories in Kisii University during the farewell party of fourth year’s media students.
On Saturday, Chitago-Borabu ward MCA Albert Oino said the four, two broadcasting students and two more talented musicians, had a talent that would help them sustain themselves economically in the near future.
The youthful MCA, also the chairperson of Youths and Culture in Kisii County assembly, said the successful candidates will undergo intensive training in his recording studio to prepare them for the competitive artists' industry.
”What I have seen today is a great talent that I never thought of. Through such talents, people have made millions of shillings and are able to support their respective families,” Oino said.
“The four students whom I have identified today should report at Mwanabandra entertainment for intensive practice and preparation for their talent. I think our recording studio has an ability to support them,” he added.
Oino challenged elected leaders to help young people to nurture their talents as a way of giving them equal economic opportunities.
“As elected leaders we have an obligation to give a life to young talents. Instead of engaging in petty politics, I think we can do much better,” he added.
