Speaking when he addressed the operators at Machakos town on Wednesday, MCA Mutheka said that formation of groups will increases chances of them receiving development funds.

He stated that the county and the national government has set aside enough funds for youth empowerment and the operators should also take advantage of the same.

Mutheka observed that though funds meant for development exists, many youths have not taken the advantage to apply for the same.

“I encourage Bodaboda operators to take advantage of the government funds such as Uwezo Fund to better their enterprises which will definitely positively change their lives,” advised MCA Mutheka.

The MCA at the same time called on the Machakos County government to provide a good environment for the operators to conduct their business.

MCA Mutheka alleged that cases of crime targeting the operators have gone up and called for more security patrols in the areas those Bodaboda operators ply, especially at night adding that the Bodaboda sector has employed many youths and that the government must ensure a good environment for business.

The MCA however, urged the operators to support the government development agenda saying it is the only way through which economic growth will be realised.
