Kemera ward MCA in Nyamira County George Morara, who is also the roads committee chairman at Nyamira County Assembly has said that unregistered road contractors will be blacklisted.
Morara, on Tuesday protested that unqualified contractors have been benefiting from road tenders in Nyamira something that has affected the quality of work being done by the contractors.
“Some contractors have been doing shoddy work on our roads because they are unregistered with fake and unqualified road engineers. No tender will be given to unregistered contractor from today henceforth in Nyamira,” he said.
He urged MCAs to ensure any contractor who will apply for various contracts in their wards is qualified and meets the required standards before a tender is awarded.
“I am appealing to my fellow MCAs to help to point out the contractors to be blacklisted by ensuring that road contractors who will get the road tenders are qualified and registered as required by the law,” he stated.
He challenged contractors who are yet to register their companies to do so to avoid being in the wrong side of the law.
