This is to ensure they are aware of the levies and taxes charged by the county government and the reason behind it.

He has taken the step after a series of protests and demonstrations experienced in the area due to the increase of the levies by the county government.

Mwangi said that the training and education to the residents will ensure they are fully informed about the same thus taming the protests and avoid a recurrent of what was experienced earlier in Madaraka Market in Makongeni.

Speaking in his ward on Friday, the legislator said that the public were not fully involved in the education of the bill and that’s why the demonstrations have become rampant and increasingly rising among the people of Kiambu.

During last year’s bill public participation, the public in all the ward centres where the education were conducted, the people went on rampage causing disruption and thus no participation was conducted therefore forcing the bill to pass without the people’s opinion.

Mwangi has called on the residents to come out in huge numbers in the education to be conducted from Monday in the Community Hall, Starehe Estate.

The public are also expected to be trained on the county government roles in the development of the area as the MCA says that some local leaders have been inciting the people saying that the county government is absconding duties.
