500 farmers from Monyerero ward in Kitutu Chache North constituency are going to get artificial insemination at a cost of Sh300.
This comes after the area member of county assembly offered to pay the remaining amount.
Charles Maina who is also the chairman of the agriculture committee in the assembly offered himself to help the farmers in reducing the cost as one way of encouraging them to embrace the artificial insemination which was launched on Wednesday by Governor James Ongwae.
“Since we have launched this program am going to help first 500 farmers who are going to require this services in their farmers,” Charles said.
The artificial insemination was launched at ATC by Ongwae who also challenged other Members of County Assembly to help farmers in the areas so that they can embrace the method.
Unlike paying Sh1500 for the service the county reduced the cost Sh500 to reach each farmer within the county.
Speaking during the launching the governor said that his administration is devoted of making sure that agriculture sector is improved since is the backbone of the county.
