Elburgon MCA Florence Wambui has called on the Nakuru County government to address land graft in the area.
Wambui says that land scam in the area has remained a problem for a long time without a solution.
Speaking today (Thursday) in Elburgon Town to a group of residents who had visited her, MCA Wambui urged the county government to suspend all land transactions in the area till proper mechanism are put into place to deal with the challenges in land transactions faced in the area.
“I urge the county government to suspend issuance of land allotment letters and title deeds till corruption is uprooted,” said Wambui.
She expressed concerns over lack of Land Board Committee in the county and wondered how land transactions are carried out in the region.
“All land transactions in Elburgon should be declared null and void since there is no Land Board Committee to oversee the operations of land issues,” said Wambui.
The residents’ spokesman Joseph Kahura also appealed to the county government to halt all land transactions till Land Board Committee is formed.
“Land grabbers have taken advantage of lack of Land Board Committee to fleece residents of their money. Such transactions should be halted and those behind the scam be prosecuted,” said Kahura.
He said that some land grabbers are selling a piece of land to more than two persons and issuing them with different fake title deeds.
