Kaptembwa MCA Daniel Ambani on Tuesday appealed to the National Government to come up with a special kitty for flood victims.
Ambani, who was speaking to journalists in Nakuru town said that more than 22 families from his ward have been displaced by the ongoing heavy rains.
“Last week alone, 22 families were left without homes after the heavy downpour and the floods displaced them. The heavy rains that were witnessed during that time forced them to leave their houses, which were completely flooded,” said Ambani.
He further called upon all government agencies concerned to come to the aid of the affected families, since most of them displaced and staying in shanties.
“I want the government to kindly come up with a kitty that will assist such families when such situation occur again,” said Ambani.
The MCA also urged the national government, together with the county government to speed up the ongoing constructions of the drainage system.
“We want the county government to speed up the drainage system construction so that the rain water can be directed to a safer ground where it will not harm the residents,” he added.
Ambani called on unity of the MCAs within the county, so that they can concentrate on development issues alone and not issues meant to divide the electorate.
