Thika Township MCA Kennedy Mwangi Kentams has called on the Kiandutu residents to maintain personal and in-house cleanliness to discourage diseases.
Speaking at the area Chief’s camp this morning (Monday), the MCA said that the area has been the dirtiest in Thika and the public has left their residence so dirty adding that the NYS troops will clean them.
He said that the troops are meant to upgrade public areas and clean the environment not house to house as the residents earlier misunderstood as a way of boosting cleanliness of the area.
Kentams urged the area leaders and elders to ensure that the youth, mostly who idle by roadside, are sensitised on the importance of being clean saying that the young people are the mostly affected by the problem.
MCA Kentams has also said that it is their mandate as the area leaders to ensure that the residents live in good conditions and work to improve and raise their living standards at all cost.
He affirmed that the ongoing clean-up and upgrading process has seen Kiandutu become secure adding that visitors can tour the place without fear as their security is guaranteed following the deployment of a large number of NYS troops.
Kentams added that Garissa Road Primary School, that was closed due to poor latrines the school pupils were using, will be opened soon as he has offered to help the parents build standard washrooms for the pupils.
