Ndumberi Ward Representative Mr Ngugi Uiri has urged police in the area to beef up security during the festive season.
Addressing residents at Ndumberi shopping centre on Wednesday, the MCA asked the police to conduct more patrols, noting that the area has recently been experiencing cases of crime.
He said that some criminals wait for the festive season to conduct their criminal activities, adding that police have the required resources and mechanisms to crack the whip on criminals.
“Police should mount patrols and beef up security to enable residents celebrate the festive season without fear of being attacked,” he said.
The MCA said it the core responsibility of the government to provide security to citizens.
“With the recent cases of sporadic criminal activities experienced in Ndumberi and the neighbouring wards like Ting’ang’a, police will have to boost their surveillance mechanism and deal with criminal elements,” said Uiru.
At the same time, the Ndumberi MCA cautioned youths in the ward against indulging in excessive drinking.
He said youths are likely to take advantage of the festive season to engage in alcohol consumption.
On Monday, Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng’etich assured residents of their safety.
Ng’etich said that police had increased patrols and surveillance in Ndumberi and Ting’ang’a after a series of criminal activities were reported in the area.
The Kiambu OCPD asked residents to work with the police in their quest to fight criminal activities.
