Kijabe MCA Francis Gakobo has called on the residents to elect leaders on grounds of integrity and accountability.
Speaking on Friday at Magina location, Kijabe Ward, Kiambu County during election of health committee to run Magina Dispensary, Gakobo said that those seeking public offices should demonstrate high degree of integrity and accountability.
“Residents should do a thorough vetting to those willing to hold public office before electing them,” said Gakobo.
Gakobo said that the rot in public offices can be avoided by electing leaders with visionary focus and free from allegations of graft.
“Public resources are intended to benefit the public but not individuals and those vested in protecting public resources should show capability that they are fit to hold the office,” said Gakobo.
The ward leader said that fresh committees will be elected to run all the community -funded dispensaries in the ward.
“Fresh elections will be conducted in all CDF-funded dispensaries in Kijabe Ward and I urge those who will hold the offices to improve service delivery,” said Gakobo.
Gakobo also supported President Kenyatta's effort in curbing corruption purge.
“I support the President’s move in combating graft, and I urge Kijabe residents to support the move,” said Gakobo.
He however said the issue graft should not be politicized as this would not work.
“Anyone involved in the graft should carry his cross and not including others,” said Gakobo.
