Mang'u MCA Samuel Kimani Gachuhi has called on Mang'u residents to venture in to dairy farming to improve their livelihoods.

Speaking at Mang'u Ward during Mang'u Progressive Dairy society meeting, Kimani said that the area is suitable for dairy rearing and urged residents to increase their efforts to make it successful.

He said that the venture has been gaining ground due to its profitability and urged the residents to seize the opportunity to increase their earnings.

“Dairy farming has higher returns and I urge the farmers to embark on improving their farming practices to earn more profit,” said Kimani.

Kimani said that dairy farming is the backbone of Mang'u Ward and urged the county government to allocate more funds to dairy sector to enable more farmers to benefit.

Mang'u Progressive Dairy Society Chairman, Gabriel Ngugi said that the society has empowered many members and urged them to consolidate their effort to make it stronger.

“Mang'u Progressive Dairy Society has changed many lives of our members by meeting domestic expenses, paying school fees, offsetting medical bills and acquiring assets,” said Ngugi.

Ngugi urged more farmers to join the society to enable it grow its financial muscle in the dairy sector.

“We need more farmers to join us to make our society stronger,” said Ngugi.

He also said that the society would carry out public awareness in Mang'u to sensitize the residents on the need to venture in to dairy farming.

Mang'u Ward residents rely on agricultural activities especially dairy farming to make ends meet.
