Biashara Ward Representative Stephen Kuria has appealed to the county government to put in place more strategies for job creation among the youth.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Kuria said that unemployment remains real despite several measures being implemented.
He further noted that unemployment should be among top priorities for the county government.
“Despite the several measures being taken to curb unemployment in Nakuru, the problem remains a challenge,” said Kuria.
The MCA asked the county to work with the private sector and other investors to create job opportunities for the rising young population.
He also challenged the youth to take up the opportunities being created by the national and the county government, further observing that despite the existence of development funds, youths are doing little to access the funds.
Meanwhile, the MCA has defended Governor Kinuthia Mbugua over the hawker’s eviction, saying the county chief means good, rubbishing claims that the he is keen on undermining the young people.
“We all know that Governor Mbugua means well for the hawkers, and claims that he is undermining the youths are not true,” said Kuria.
