Thika East Ward Representative Cecilia Wamaitha has asked the county government to fast-track plans to supply the Ward with clean drinking water.
Speaking to locals at Munyu trading centre on Tuesday, Wamaitha said that the Ward has no access to clean water, adding that residents have waited for a long time and that the county should do something urgently.
“My request is for the county government to speed up plans of supplying clean water to this ward,” she said.
The MCA complained that the piped water they have been receiving from River Athi is contaminated.
“The little water we have been receiving is contaminated and several cases of diseases related to use of dirty water have been reported,” said Wamaitha.
She further urged the county government to spearhead development so as to promote the living standards of the people.
Wamaitha said that locals are yearning for better services and that the government should focus on providing quality services.
The MCA said that the county assembly will continue to spearhead the rights and welfare of women, youths and persons living with disabilities.
