The MCA who is the county assembly chairperson of Information, Innovations and Technology committe, has also called for a law to regulate blogging.

Speaking at the Kiambu County assembly on Tuesday, Wanjiku noted that lack of a law to regulate the social media has led to a misuse of the platform.

"Social media has been used to spread tribal hatred, unverified information, falsehoods, scare and all manner of things detrimental to our nation all because there is no law," said Wanjiku.

She added: "Political bloggers have also been spreading very dangerous information that may not work well for us. They also need to be regulated like any other media."

Wanjiku who spoke in reference to the ongoing debate on DP William Ruto fixing claims, said that social media and blogging sites are being used to spread one-sided narratives that are polarising the country.
