Kiambu County Deputy Speaker Antony Macharia wants Governor William Kabogo to be Deputy President (DP) William Ruto's running mate in the 2022 presidential elections.
Speaking to journalists at Kimende Town on Monday, Macharia said that Kabogo is best suited to be Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 general elections.
Mr Macharia said that if the region is to support Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022, then Kabogo has to be his deputy.
He said Kabogo is the most senior politician in the region who should succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when he retires from politics.
“We believe that Governor Kabogo is the best suited candidate to deputise William Ruto in the 2022 general elections,” said Macharia.
Macharia who is also the Bibirioni Member of County Assembly said Kabogo has vast experience in politics and is fit to be the deputy president or even the president.
He said Kiambu people will support Kabogo if he decides to vie for the seat.
The MCA who had accompanied Kabogo during the launch of milk coolers at Gatimaiyu dairy plant in Lari on Monday, lauded the county government for initiating development projects.
He said various development projects were being initiated in the area adding that residents stand to benefit from them. He urged residents to support the Kiambu government as it seeks to promote development.
Macharia at the same time lashed out at some leaders in the county who he accused of trying to hinder development.
He said that leaders must come together and support the county government as it rolls out development projects.
