The Market/Milimani ward representative said that crime in the lakeside county is on the rise.

Speaking to the press at his ward office in Milimani area, Anayo said that he has already drafted a motion that will be brought to the floor of the house on August 25.

"I have already drafted this motion and I hope to see it passed into a bill. We need to have laws that will ensure that the safety and security of the residents are guaranteed,” he said.

Once enacted into law, Anayo said that all landlords will be required to install security lights at the main residential gates and around the compound.

Kisumu Residents' Voice Association Chairman, Audi Ogada hailed the MCA for coming up with the bill. He told Hivisasa that if passed into law, safety around residential areas will be improved.

"Security is a basic need that should be fulfilled by the government. If all the residential areas are well lit, it will be less attractive for criminals and petty thugs," Audi said.
