Speaking in Nairobi, the MCA said children schooling in low-income areas risk going without playgrounds open spaces for relaxation during out of class hours and even spaces for school expansion projects owing to the rising cartels involved in land grabbing.

Citing the case of the ongoing construction of kiosks on public land in Ramgahra Railway Mosque, Digirigi said land grabbers are known and that the county assembly should stand to their mandate and probe such corrupt deals.

The ODM nominated MCA further urged the county executive and the concerned assembly Planning Committee investigate those behind the ever increasing land grabbing cases. She also urged the committee to reveal county officials who authorised the construction of the kiosks on the said public land.

The MCA alleged that a plot bearing the number LR No 209/10775 which had been allocated for the construction of market in the county had been transferred to a private developer under unclear circumstances.
