Kiambu’s Kiuu Ward Rep Margaret Mwago wants police in the area to up their efforts in fighting crime.
Speaking to journalists at Kimbo Trading Centre on Tuesday, Mwago complained about the increased crime in the area and blamed security personnel for laxity.
“l am appealing to the police in Githurai 45 area to help us tame crime that is rising in some parts of Kiuu including Kimbo, Soweto and Karai,” said Mwago.
She added that the police must up their game and conduct more patrols to arrest suspected criminals stating that many residents, especially businessmen, have complained over rise in crime.
Mwago said, “Kiambu County government has the responsibility to protect its residents and criminals should not be given space to cause havoc.”
The MCA also asked the county government to complete installation of street lights in the area pointing out that the move will help reduce crime and enable residents to conduct their business on a 24 hour basis.
