Speaking on Saturday, the MCA alleged that cases of public land grabbing are on the rise in the area, adding that development would not be realised if land grabbing is not curbed.

“I want to ask both the National Land Commission (NLC) and the county government to probe on land grabbing in this ward,” said Simita.

The MCA further indicated that land grabbing dates back to many years, and that some residents have lost their land to wealthy and prominent individuals, urging the government to intervene and provide title deeds to genuine owners.

Meanwhile, the MCA urged women and youth in the area to apply for development funds provided by the government, saying it will benefit them and improve their economic well being.

Simita lauded the measures the government has put in place to deal with rising cases of unemployment, lamenting on lack of job opportunities which has seen many youth engage in criminal activities and anti-social behaviours like prostitution.
