Bogichora MCA Butah Omanga has welcomed transfer of embattled County Commissioner Josephine Onunga amidst insecurity concerns in the region.
Onunga was increasingly becoming under pressure to quit following deteriorating security in the region, culminating to formation of a security committee by County Assembly to address the matter.
Speaking after confirmation of Onunga’s transfer to Taita, Omanga said the team was ready to work with incoming commissioner John Rotich.
“I think her transfer was timely because many of us were losing trust in her. It’s good that the government transferred her so that someone else can try to restore security in our county,” he said.
”Sometimes when you are under pressure to perform, it’s good to get a break. As security committee, we welcome the government’s decision and we are ready to work with the incoming team so that we assure our people good security,” he added.
He urged residents to give his committee a few weeks to finalize on the report concerning insecurity incidents in Nyamira County.
“My committee is working hard to give a credible report on matters security. We deserve more time so that we give concrete recommendations. We all want a safe county that everyone enjoys freedom,” he added.
