A section of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Kitui have faulted Wiper Chairman David Musila for disrespecting his party boss Kalonzo Musyoka as he seeks to vie for the region’s gubernatorial seat in the next general election.
Speaking at the office of Kitui assembly majority leader Jacob Maundu on Thursday, 23 MCAs from the party said that Musila’s declaration that he will vie for the gubernatorial seat during the upcoming polls whether Kalonzo likes it or not amounts to a high level of disrespect and disloyalty.
According to the MCAs, Musila is out to undermine their Party leader. Ngomeni MCA Nzungi Ngwele read a statement on behalf of the leaders asking Musila to vie for the senatorial seat during the August elections for the sake of the party’s unity.
“We wish to express our disgust at the manner in which Senator Musila reacted to the advice of party leader to stick to his Senate position in order to avoid causing a harmful rift in the party,” Ngwele said, as quoted by the Star.
On his part, Musila has claimed that he held talks with the former vice president over the matter and he is not ready to respond to childish politics exhibited by the MCAs.
