The calendar for the second county assembly of Uasin Gishu, first session schedule, has been approved.

Members of County Assembly on Wednesday voted to adopt the calendar that will see them hold four sessions weekly.

Assembly leader of majority Josphat Lowoi tabled the motion on adoption of the calendar which also sets dates for the MCAs recess.

While moving the motion, Lowoi challenged his fellow MCAs to ensure they effectively deliver on their mandate by attending Assembly sittings.

"As MCAs we have a duty to pass county laws and oversight the county executive. This role can best be done by attending Assembly sittings, committee meetings and giving our inputs," said the Karina/Mibeki MCA.

The motion was seconded by Kaptagat MCA Jonathan Lagat.According to the calendar, the Assembly will hold one sitting every Tuesday and Thursday from 2.30PM to 6.30PM and two sessions on Wednesday, morning and afternoon.

The calendar also indicates that MCA's will have a short recess between 20-30 October because of the repeat presidential election scheduled for October 26.

A second recess that will be long has been slated from December 8, 2017 to February 12, 2018.
