Kikuyu Ward MCA Binary Wainaina has called on the County Government of Kiambu to empower youths in a bid to reduce crime and drug abuse in the county.

The TNA legislator said that he is ready to work with any individual willing to improve the living standards of youth in the county.

Speaking on Sunday at PCEA Ondiri Church during a fundraising event, Wainaina urged MCAs, not only in Kiambu but the entire nation to empower youths and develop programmes arguing that they are the leaders on the ground who can bring change in the country.

“My counterparts should join me in developing ways of empowering our youths since unemployment has been a cancer that eats up our economy,” said Wainaina.

Wainaina expressed his concerns with insecurity in the ward urging the residents to work hand in hand with the Community Policing unit to curb crime in the area.

He lauded the Kiambu Youths and Sport Affairs CeC Michael Waikenda for his consistence in empowering youth and urged him to do even more adding that Kiambu has talent to showcase but only lacks people to spearhead it.

Meanwhile, Kikuyu Ward residents have applauded and appreciated the road network improvement by the county government saying it has impacted positively on their economic status.

They lauded Kiambu Roads and Infrastructure CeC Njeri Gatabaki and Governor William Kabogo terming them as good leaders of action.
