About 40 women in South West Kisumu ward who are widowed or had their houses destroyed during the rainy season will have their houses rebuild.

Area ward representative Joseph Abiola said he has received iron sheets from well-wishers to aid in the building of new houses.

Abiola said his team had identified the women who are in need of new houses and construction will kick off in January 2016.

“My team walked through the entire ward and compiled a list of 40 women who are in dire need of good housing. As a start, we will build them houses then next time we will consider other cases,” he said.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Thursday, Abiola said many women whose husbands have died are living in poor houses.

He said he will strive to give proper housing to the less privileged people in society.

Abiola appealed to those who have the capacity to put up proper houses to give room to the needy people.

“I want those who are able in my ward to step up and help those who don’t have. Giving back to the society is a fulfilling engagement and God will reward abundantly,” he said.

He said that during his tenure he will provide servant leadership and make people feel the importance of devolution.
