A section of Kiambu MCAs have called for thorough investigations into events that led to the accident involving Hospital Ward Representative JB Mwangi on Friday last week.

Speaking when they visited the MCA at the Aga Khan Hospital on Monday, the Ward Representatives raised suspicions into the accident that saw Mwangi seriously injured.

The MCAs led by Ngewa’s Karungo Thang’wa appealed to the police to probe the matter thoroughly.

“The events and incidents that happened before JB’s accident raise suspicions and we want to ask the police to probe the matter keenly,” he said.

The MCAs said that they suspect foul play into the accident, claiming that it could have been an assassination attempt.

“We are not taking this matter lightly and the police must quickly investigate and provide the truth about the accident,” said Thika Nominated MCA Emily Warutere.

Ms Warutere said that the chronology of events as being provided is not convincing and that police should expedite investigations.

Riabai MCA Martin Wachira questioned why the police had to release the fuel truck that hit the boda boda the MCA was riding on.

He also questioned why the motorcycle that was involved in the accident was not at the scene of crime.

The MCAs also wondered why the call logs on the MCA’s phone could not be traced.

The hospital Ward MCA was on boda boda when the motorbike he was being carried on was hit from behind by a fuel tanker along the Thika-Garissa road near Gatitu junction Friday night.

The MCA who suffered serious injuries was rushed to the Thika Level Five Hospital before being transferred to the Agha Khan Hospital.

Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia Monday said that investigations were ongoing, asking leaders to top speculations.

He said investigators will carry out a comprehensive probe into the accident.

On Tuesday, Thika MP Alice Nga’ng’a, Kiambu’s Jude Njomo and Kikuyu’s Kimani Ichung'wa visited the MCA at the hospital and called for probe into the accident.
