Unity talks dominated the first sitting for Kisumu Speaker Anne Adul after court reinstated her, with the members vowing to work together to ensure they undertake pending house businesses.
The members welcomed her back and also endorsed the new leader of minority Maurice Ondiek who was sworn in on Wednesday morning replacing Ombeyi Ward representative John Auko.
Ms Adul, who chaired the session of the County Assembly said a lot of time has been wasted in courts and wrangling among members and there was need for unity among MCAs to work for the people of Kisumu.
"We have many pending house businesses including Motions and Bills which have not been followed up with the executive. We need to expedite this and we will only manage if we agree to get to serious legislative work," said Adul.
Kaloleni Shaurimoyo Ward representative Prisca Misachi stated that the Assembly has another chance to prove that it is law abiding.
"We will support each other and we will not brood any malice against each other as has been the case," said Misachi.
Her Masogo Nyang'oma counterpart Samuel Ong'ow said it will only be through unity that the assembly will realize its aim in the short period remaining before the end of the first devolution term.
