Kiambu Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have amended the Standing Orders to change the starting time for the morning House sessions. In a motion sponsored by Deputy Speaker Philip Mubea, the majority of the ward representatives adopted the changes which will now see the sittings start at 10am, and not 9am as has been the norm."Members have been having difficulties starting at 9am due to family responsibilities and other House committees' commitments. We agreed on the most appropriate time for all members," Mubea said.At the same time, Speaker Stephen Ndichu defended the assembly for organising an induction of members at the Coast.Residents have been complaining that the exercise was costly, saying it was a waste of taxpayer money.A section of media houses reported that the process cost Sh15 million."About 10 counties were in Mombasa for induction. The exercise is mandatory and was provided for in law and budgeted for," Ndichu said.
