Nyamira County MCAs have condemned their senator Mong’are Okong’o for continuously skipping the county assembly’s house opening sessions.
Speaking at the assembly in Nyamira, the County Assembly’s minority leader Jackson Mogusu demanded an explanation as to why the senator boycotted all the opening sessions the assembly has had, this being the third despite being officially invited.
“I want an explanation as to why Senator Okong’o has not showed up, and you now this is the third time he is doing so. He should respect this county assembly and us the MCAs,” said Mogusu.
He accused Mong’are of lacking respect for the county assembly, and also warned that they would not allow any leaders to disrespect them at any cost.
The assembly’s majority leader Laban Masira also accused the senator of always bashing the county government’s leadership in public, adding that he himself had failed to appear before the assembly to raise his concerns to the MCAs.
Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama was also present, but sat and watched as the MCAs poured down their anger on the senator who was not present.
The assembly’s speaker Joash Nyamoko also said that he was so much surprised that the senator did not show up, even after he and other leaders were invited.
