Speaking on Tuesday during the County Assemblies Forum held in Mombasa, the leaders said it was difficult for them to maneuver through their wards without the vehicles.

Addressing journalists in Mombasa, Stanley Orengo, who is a member of the Busia County Assembly, said the government needs to honour its promise by giving them the car grants.

“We supported the government development agendas in our respective wards and thus the government should reciprocate the good gesture by giving us car grants.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had promised the MCAs the grants saying they should be accorded equal treatment with Mps, who are given grants to buy vehicles instead of loans, as recommended by Salaries and Remuneration Commission boss Sarah Serem.
