Meru County Assembly Members have differed over the move by Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi to sack 1030 casual workers after an audit by Deloitte firm.

Speaking in Meru town, the county legislators who support Governor Kiraitu’s decision, led by Majority leader Victor Kariithi, said that over 50 percent of the casual workers do not report to work, hence the dismissal.

He said the situation at the county was worse, and there was the need to take stern action.

However, another group of legislators who oppose the move led by Deputy Speaker Elias Murega demanded the human audit report which has not yet been tabled before the assembly.

They urged Governor Kiraitu to promote the casual workers instead of sacking.
