65 Members of Nairobi County Assembly have appended their signatures in a motion to impeach Speaker Alex Ole Magelo.

The MCAs are accusing Magelo of failing to provide leadership in the assembly.

Assembly Minority Leader Abdi Guyo confirmed he has drafted a motion to impeach the speaker for alleged incompetence.

Guyo said the motion will soon be forwarded to the clerk of the assembly for approval.

The development comes two days after Governor Evans Kidero suspended the launch of the county assembly.

President Uhuru Kenyatta who was to grace the event said he had other commitments.

About Sh463 million was used to refurbish the assembly.
