Kiambaa MP has accused Members of County Assembly of greed saying that they no longer earn what the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) recommended.
Koinange who was speaking to Muchatha residents on Thursday said that many MCAs in various counties are bagging not less than half a million shillings in salaries and allowances per month.
"The MCAs have become very greedy people when it comes to money matters. Instead of being contented with what they ought to earn which is Sh.120, 000 they have designed their own salaries," said Koinange.
The MP equated the move by the MCAs to fleecing the country in broad daylight and asked the SRC to intervene.
He said that the MCAs were sending a wrong message to the electorate.
"Kenyans are now seeing all leaders as people who are out there to dry the country's coffers which is very wrong," he added.
At the same time, Koinange has asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to be decisive enough in dealing with those implicated in corruption scandals saying that no one should be spared.
