Five Members of County Assembly from Kathiani Sub-county have given the Machakos County Government 72 hours to give an explanation on to why 28 workers from Kathiani Sub County were laid off.
The MCAs led by Alphonse Wambua for Upper Kaewa Ward urged the County Government to give the grounds on which the employees were sacked.
“The employees are demanding for their salary of six months and have been sacked for demanding for their rights. We are giving the County government up to Wednesday to give us an explanation why the employees where sucked” said Wambua.
“We are urging the Minister for labour to issue a statement within 72 hours, otherwise we will go to court. Unless we are given the reasons, No revenue shall be collected from Kathiani Sub-county after Wednesday.” Added Wambua.
The 28 workers are revenue collectors from Kathiani Sub-county and had stayed for months without their salaries. They were sacked without notice and told to return all the items to the county offices.
The MCAs urged the county government to take care of the workers welfare and aim at improving the lives of his employees.
