Political leaders in Uasin Gishu county have dismissed reports that there is a split between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto over the composition of the new Cabinet.
The leaders led by Uasin Gishu County Assembly leader of majority Josphat Lowoi says the reports are part of a ploy by the opposition's National Super Alliance (Nasa) to rock the Jubilee government.
Speaking at the county Assembly buildings in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Lowoi said they are fully in support of the partial government unveiled by President Kenyatta on Friday.
He noted that individuals claiming there's a rift between the two leaders have never been members of the Jubilee party.
"We've no problem with the list of cabinet secretaries unveiled on Friday and anything being reported contrary to this is probably wishful thinking," said the Karuna Mibeki MCA.
"The Jubilee administration is very much intact and perhaps this is why NASA is so much worried that they have resorted to spreading rumours about divisions between the President and his deputy," he added.
After President Kenyatta named his cabinet in absence of his Deputy unlike in 2013, there have been reports that all is not well between the two over some of the names proposed to be in Cabinet.
